The official launch of my first-ever solo album is only a few short weeks away! I am beyond excited. It’s finally here! The process has been a long one, with many twists and turns in the story. Nearly three years in the making.
I never thought I’d see the day. Literally. This album could have been called, “The One That Almost Wasn’t.” And it wasn’t for a lack of wonderful, talented, supportive people in my life helping along the way. The issue was me. Something inside. I’m still not sure what all God was doing, but I know He has been up to something in this heart of mine. And you know the way God works: it always seems like He’s taking forever, and then suddenly He’s moving so fast that it’s hard to keep up. These days it’s hard to keep up.
Through it all, God has been so wonderfully good. He has been patient with me, and has continued to use me in spite of myself. Indeed, He moves and has His way in me not because of anything I bring to the table, but because of who He is and His abilities.
The second song on the album, Foreign Land, was a song I wrote from a place of brokenness, a place where I was realizing in a profound way my own mortality: “This world is not my home, I live for You alone, You are my only hope.” And I had the honor of seeing this song minister to someone in their final months of life before they left this world at a young age to be with Jesus. There aren’t words to capture the feeling of God using these songs so far beyond being just something to listen to.
My prayer is that these songs will minister to you, as well. That they will do something in your heart. And that God will stir thoughts and feelings that lead you closer to Him. He’s the only place we can truly find any hope and peace and life, anyway. May your heart cry with mine, “I don’t wanna wait, I don’t wanna play it safe, I just want You to come, In a roaring hurricane, like a rocket engine plane, I just want You to come, I need You to come.”
